Healthy relationships

The small practices that make relationships safer

Boundaries, repair, consent, and online wisdom for everyday life.

Safety is built in ordinary moments

Healthy relationships are not defined by never disagreeing. They are shaped by what happens after the disagreement: whether people can pause, tell the truth, take responsibility, and return with care.

Teach young people that a boundary is information, not punishment. “I am not comfortable with that” deserves respect, even when someone feels disappointed.

Repair is a skill

A useful repair includes naming what happened, acknowledging impact, taking responsibility for your part, and agreeing what will be different next time. It does not require a perfect apology or instant closeness.

Adults model this best when they repair without adding a “but”. A sincere “I raised my voice and that was not okay” teaches more than a lecture about respectful communication.

Digital spaces need the same wisdom

Online safety is relational safety. Talk about privacy, pressure, permanence, impersonation, group dynamics, and when to save evidence and ask for help. Keep the conversation open before a crisis occurs.

Consent, boundaries, and kindness apply whether a conversation happens in a bedroom, a classroom, a group chat, or a game.
